Senator Tolu Odebiyi has declared that he remains the leading contender for the Ogun West senatorial seat, hinging his political strength on a record of credible representation, grassroots accessibility, and measurable impact across the district.

In a personally signed statement made available to journalists on Thursday, Odebiyi argued that politics is won not by noise or propaganda but by performance, accessibility, and the trust of the people—values he claims have defined his political journey.

“From the very beginning, I understood that representation must go beyond speeches on the Senate floor. The people deserve leadership that delivers tangible results,” the senator stated. He listed empowerment programmes, infrastructure advocacy, youth development, education support, and economic inclusion as the pillars of his tenure.

According to him, thousands of constituents across Ogun West have benefited from interventions facilitated through his office, including scholarships, vocational training, employment opportunities, and direct empowerment schemes.

Beyond legislative duties, Odebiyi said he has sustained close engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, market women, artisans, youths, and party stakeholders across the five local governments of the district. “Leadership succeeds when the people can reach their representative and when their concerns are heard and acted upon,” he said.

The senator also stressed his role as a voice for Ogun West at the national level, pushing for federal projects, appointments, and policies to boost the district’s economic relevance.

Odebiyi, who positioned himself as a stabilising force, said he has prioritised unity and collaboration over division and personal ambition. “In a political climate often dominated by division and personal ambition, I have consistently prioritised unity, collaboration, and the long-term interests of the district,” he added.

He dismissed the notion that elections are won on social media hype alone, insisting that grassroots acceptance, proven delivery, and enduring relationships with the people remain the true determinants of electoral success. “My connection with the grassroots remains one of my greatest political strengths,” Odebiyi asserted.

Looking ahead, the senator expressed confidence that the people of Ogun West, whom he described as politically aware and discerning, would recognise performance and commitment. “The journey continues, and by the grace of God and the support of the people, the best days of Ogun West are still ahead,” the statement concluded.
