Otunba (Hon.) Bisi Oyedele- Citiside, Member representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, played host to members of Ogu General Assembly, led by the Convener- Professor Jendele Hungbo, during a courtesy visit to his office at the Assembly complex in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

The delegation which included the group’s Treasurer- Mr. Abel Operekete; Youth Advocator- Comrade Mawutin Imoleayo Deji and Mr Selome Hungbo, visited to discuss matters of identity, heritage and fair representation of the Ogu people in governance and traditional institutions of Ogun State. A key part of their advocacy was the call for the formal recognition of “AHOLUS” (Kabiyesis in Ogu Language) as members of the Ogun State Council of Obas.

Hon. Citiside expressed deep concern over the continued exclusion of the Ogu people from the state’s traditional rulership structure despite their vast population which dominantly spread across Ogun West Senatorial District.

“I am here today, I may not be here tomorrow, but history must have it that this is achieved while I am here.” he said.

Reminiscing about the 2023 election, Citiside thanked the Ogu people for standing by him against all odds. He acknowledged their loyalty and assured them of his unwavering commitment. “I hold the Ogu people in high esteem and I will never toy with your trust,” he affirmed.

Highlighting his achievements within just two years in office, Hon. Citiside reeled out his strides in terms of infrastructure, education, job facilitation, agriculture and community development across Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency. He reiterated his pledge to continue working towards justice, equity and inclusion for all.

Mr. Abel Operekete, Treasurer of the group, commended Hon. Citiside for his outstanding representation and visible impact in less than two years, describing him as “a true bridge between the people and governance.”

The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with both parties aligning on the need to elevate the voice of the Ogu people and secure their rightful place in the cultural and political fabric of Ogun State.
