The leadership of Remo Youth Congress (RYC) has drummed support for Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole, a candidate in the race for the office of Rector of Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade.

This was contained in a press statement issued and signed by the group’s National Secretary, Omoba Festus Onasipe in Abeokuta, the state capital.

It would be recalled that Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole started his journey in academic as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta; where he thereafter moved to Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, as a senior lecturer; before advancing to the Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade as a Principal lecturer and subsequently, Chief lecturer in the department of Computer Science of the same institution.

According to the statement, “Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole recorded huge successes and achievements while serving as the HOD of the Department of Computer Science at Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade.

His excellent record continued while ascending the ladder as the Director, (Aiyepe Campus); Member of the Students’ Sourcing Committee; Director of the Academic Planning Unit; and Ag. Deputy Rector of the same institution”

“It is our belief that a Rector of an institution like Gateway Polytechnic (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade requires a lot of experience gathered from a solid track record of service in the polytechnic. Competence, which has been proven in previous positions occupied is a testament to what we should expect from the incoming Rector, who we are confident will deliver on the job.”

“The experience, competence and other virtues needed for the successful management of the institution can be obviously found in how Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole has handled previous positions with absolute commitment and dedication.

By tradition, institutions in Ogun state, focus more attention on academic prowess and high moral standing, managerial and administrative experience within and outside the institution, amiability, sociability and good human relations as well as acceptability to the community; and Gateway Polytechnic (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade is not an exception. These qualities, the group further noted, are outstandingly possessed by Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole.”

“We call on all eminent personalities in the academia, the Ogun state government and the governing council of the polytechnic to endorse Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole’s candidature.”

“We especially extend our call to all traditional rulers in Ogun state to give a nod to the candidacy of Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole, who, over the years has proven to be the right man for the job.”

Part of the idea to drum support for Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole, the group claims, “is to encourage homegrown products of the Polytechnic to rise to the ranks of leadership, which, by extension, will encourage junior staff to remain committed and dedicated to their jobs with the hopes of rising through the ladder in the future with diligent work.”

For his academic brilliance, resourcefulness, and innovative networking abilities, Ogunyinka Taiwo Kolawole has earned his professional membership with the following chatters: Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria (ISMN); Association of Applied Information Management Professionals ((AIMP); Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN Full Membership); Nigeria Computer Society (NCS full membership); Science Teacher Association of Nigeria (STAN); Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP).

Ogunyinka, whose core area of strength includes mentoring early career scholars across disciplines and coordinating projects remains the candidate with the most experience needed to advance the course of the institution.
