A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fuad Laguda, has emerged as the party’s candidate for Surulere federal constituency 1 bye-election.

ogundaily.com/ reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would be conducting a bye-election for Surulere federal constituency 1, a position occupied by Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila before his appointment as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

At the primary election conducted on Saturday in Lagos by the APC Primary Election Committee led by Hon. Yusuf Yakub, Laguda polled 30 delegate votes to clinch the ticket.

He beat Lawal Kabiru, Raheem Owokoniran and Jamila Omobolanle who scored zero.

Speaking after being declared winner, Laguda said the victory was for the people of the constituency, promising to follow the footsteps of Gbajabiamila.

Laguda would be slugging it out with Labour Party (LP) candidate, Kehinde Alusi, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, amongst others.

The bye-election is scheduled to hold February 3.
