Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their commitment and sacrifices in the ongoing fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of violent crimes across the country.

In a statement, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces acknowledged the courage of military personnel and security operatives serving on various frontlines, describing them as a shield between innocent citizens and those seeking to undermine the nation’s peace and security.

Tinubu noted that troops continue to operate under difficult conditions in forests, on highways, in creeks, at forward operating bases, and across challenging terrains to ensure that Nigerians can go about their daily activities in safety.

According to the President, the fight against terrorism has come with significant sacrifices, pressure, and loss, but security personnel have remained steadfast in their duty to protect the nation.

He expressed appreciation to officers and men of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence agencies, local security formations, and all personnel working to safeguard the country.

President Tinubu also paid tribute to the families of security personnel, acknowledging the emotional burden of long deployments, prolonged absences, and the uncertainties associated with service.

The President further honoured fallen heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty, stating that their sacrifices continue to live on through the communities they helped protect and the lives they saved.

He emphasized that the fight against terrorism is not solely the responsibility of security agencies but a collective national duty, urging citizens to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information.

“When you see something, say something. When you know something, report it,” the President urged.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to defeating insecurity, Tinubu declared that Nigeria would not surrender to fear or allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and violent extremists to define the country’s identity.

He stressed that violence and hatred do not represent Nigerians regardless of their faith, ethnicity, or community.

The President concluded by thanking frontline personnel for their vigilance, courage, and dedication to national service, while praying for divine protection over all security operatives as they continue to defend the country.
