The council, approved by the Alake of Egbaland and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, is tasked with overseeing the town’s affairs during the monarch’s suspension.

During the meeting, Amb. Ogunsola assured the council of the government’s suppemphasisingizing the importance of adherence to the Ogun State Chieftaincy Law. He urged the members to uphold tradition, avoid bias in land-related matters, and prioritise the community’s welfare.

“Your appointment is a call to service. You must operate within the law and ensure fairness in all decisions,” Ogunsola stated.

High Chief Sunday Oduntan, the Asiwaju Baamofin of Egbaland and head of the regency council, pledged the council’s commitment to peace and collaboration with the government. He promised to restore order in land administration and prioritise the people’s interests.

The meeting was attended by top chiefs, including Chief Oluwafemi Folarin (Odofin Ijeun), Chief Afolabi Fasanu, SAN (Lisa Ijeun), and other traditional leaders.

The Regency Council’s formation marks a new phase in Obafemi Township’s administration as stakeholders work toward stability and development.
