Former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and former Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal (SEMBOL), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Rt. Hon. Shoyemi Coker, describing his death as a great loss to Ogun State and Nigeria.
In a condolence message, Hon. Lawal said he received the news of the former Speaker’s demise with heavy hearts and total submission to the will of God.
He described the late Rt. Hon. Shoyemi Coker as a distinguished son of Ogun State, an outstanding public servant, and a leader who devoted his life to the service of humanity with integrity, wisdom, and humility.
According to him, the late Coker’s remarkable service as Former Chairman of Odeda Local Government and Former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly left an enduring legacy of development, unity, and good governance across the state.
“Rt. Hon. Shoyemi Coker lived an exemplary life. He was a man of the people, a voice for the voiceless, and a builder of communities. His leadership in Odeda and at the State Assembly left lasting footprints that will continue to inspire generations,” Lawal stated.
He prayed that Almighty God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family, friends, associates, and the people of Ogun State the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
