Akure — Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of Ondo State, effective from June 6, 2026.
The appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, whose tenure the governor described as impactful and beneficial to the development of the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to Philips for his dedicated service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
The governor also charged the new Head of Service to deploy his extensive experience in strengthening the public service and advancing the objectives of the administration’s OUR EASE agenda.
Chief Odusanya, born on February 6, 1967, attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School between 1972 and 1983. He later obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric.) degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1989.
He further earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies (PGDMS) from the same institution in 1992 before obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the then University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.
Odusanya joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and has served in several ministries and government agencies. He was appointed a Permanent Secretary in 2019 and has since held key positions in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Transport, and most recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Until his appointment, he was serving as the Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.
A respected administrator, Chief Odusanya is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (FCIPM), the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (FCIPAN), and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration (FCLA).
He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children.
His appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of administrative leadership within the Ondo State Public Service as the Aiyedatiwa administration continues its governance agenda.
