ABEOKUTA — Tension has gripped parts of Ogun State following reports that two serving personnel of the Nigerian Army were killed in an attack by Suspected Bandits in the Mowe/Ibafo area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday when the assailants allegedly opened fire on the soldiers in what eyewitnesses described as a sudden and coordinated attack.
A viral video circulating on social media showed the bloodied body of a soldier dressed in military camouflage being evacuated in a pickup van. The vehicle was occupied by security operatives in plain clothes, believed to be police officers, alongside other civilians.
Details surrounding the attack remain unclear as authorities continue to gather information.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, PSP Oluseyi Babaseyi , said the command had not received any report of the incident and could not immediately confirm its occurrence.
However, the Army Public Relations Officer of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Major Idereghi Samuel, confirmed that an attack had taken place. He noted that he was still awaiting comprehensive details regarding the circumstances and exact location of the incident.
Major Idereghi assured journalists that the military would provide further information once preliminary investigations are concluded.
The reported killing of the military personnel has sparked concern among residents, particularly in communities along the busy Lagos-Ibadan corridor, as security agencies intensify efforts to ascertain the facts and track those responsible.
