Officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been called upon to continue to support the government in tackling the security challenge confronting the State and the nation as a whole.

The Ogun State Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Ottun made the call when the newly deployed Corps Commandant of the NSCDC, Ogun State Command, Commandant Taiwo Kolawole, led other members of the Corps on a familiarisation visit to the Office of the Head of Service at Okemosan, Abeokuta.

According to her, as security challenge is very high in the country and the State government believes so much in security agencies’ efforts at tackling it, the NSCDC is not left out of such agencies, therefore, the onus lies on them to continue to support the collaborative efforts of government at combating the challenge.

“The security challenge is very high in the country and the government believes so much in security agencies and yours is not left out to tackle it; you will agree with me that Ogun State has been working very seriously with all security agencies in the state and I want to urge you to continue to support the government because the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration believes in collaboration, that is why his door is open to everyone and I know that your Command will continue to support him in securing the people and protecting properties in the state.
“If you cooperate with government, government will continue to support you and I want to vouch for the present administration that it is very committed to protecting lives and property in the State” Alhaja Ottun assured.
Adding their voices in welcoming the Commandant to the State, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Dahunsi Ogunleye and his counterparts from the Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, as well as that of the Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Alhaji Olanrewaju Saka assured that the government will continue to create an enabling environment to tackle all challenges as they surface and requested for sustained cordial relationship between the Command and the government as well as strengthen the Command’s feedback mechanisms in order to fish out bad eggs who are bent on spoiling the whole among the Officers.

Reeling out security measures put in place by the government to include the re-launch of the Security Trust Fund, launch of the Amotekun Corps, procurement of patrol vans, among others, the Permanent Secretaries urged the new Commandant to gear efforts at contributing to the peace and tranquility of the state while grey areas that might affect the smooth working relationship between it and the government be looked into.

Earlier, the Corps Commandant, Commander Taiwo Kolawole said the visit was embarked upon to appreciate government’s good gesture, cooperation and synergy with the Command and solicited for more support to fulfill the core mandate of protecting the citizenry and critical national assets.
