Abeokuta- A couple, Moses Mba and his wife, Florence have been reportedly arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over the death of a 45-year-old man named Mark Kalu.

The couple were said to have engaged the deceased in an altercation on October 8, 2023, at Osiele market, Abeokuta in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

The 45-year-old Kalu was said to have sustained some injuries during the fight until he succumbed to death on Saturday.

The PPRO of the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists on Saturday night.

The statement partly reads, “The Divisional Police Officer in Odeda in Abeokuta have received a report of a death incident, that one Mark Kalu, aged 45 years old, died today, January 6th, 2023, at about 0700hrs.

“It was alleged that the deceased sustained injuries during a fight that occurred on October 8, 2023, at Osiele market. The altercation took place in the market square between the late Mark Kalu and a couple, Moses Mba, aged 50 years old, and his wife, Florence Moses, aged 40 years old, leading to the death of Kalu.

“Efforts were made by the Babaloja of Osiele and the Igbo community leader to mediate and find a peaceful resolution.

“However, the suspects have now been taken into custody to facilitate a preliminary investigation into the incident. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Federal Medical Center in Idi Aba for autopsy.”

Recall that on January 5, last year, a couple, Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun and Salawa Oyenusi Ajalorun were also arrested along with six others by men of Ogun State Police Command, for kidnapping, killing, and dismembering of a 26-year-old mother of two, Oyindamola Adeyemi.

The command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement he made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspects were apprehended following a report lodged at Obalende Divisional headquarters, Ijebu-Ode by one Ojo Omolara, who reported that her neighbour, Oyindamola Adeyemi left home on the morning of December 28, 2022.
