Delta 2022: Team Ogun Wins Medals In Darts, Para-Tennis, Others

As the National Sports Festival, NSF, tagged Delta 2022, enters “Day 3”, Ogun State athletes have so far won a total of seventeen medals in following categories

Cycling Gold 1. Silver 1

Darts Gold 1 Bronze 1

Para Powerlifting Gold 1 Bronze 2

Para Table Tennis Gold 3. Silver 1. Bronze 4

Scrabble Silver 1

Golf Silver 1

Total number of Medals:. 17 and expectations are high for more medals across the game centres.

The state contingent had a brilliant start with one Gold medals in a cycling event before the official opening ceremony.

The cyclists 4 km Pursuit Team are Agbebi Emmanuel, Adesanya Biodun,Azeez Lawal, Akinsemonyi Usman. By that achievement, Team Ogun became the first in South Western state to win a gold medal in the 2022 edition.

Lawal Azeez won a silver Medal at the 140km road race.

Lolade Adeyemi had added 1 Gold and 1 Bronze medals to the team’s cabinet after winning the coveted medal in Darts TDB Women singles.

Team Ogun camp came alive yesterday morning. When Para Table Tennis Players Olaitan Kafayat, Popoola Mariam and Adebowale Janet won Gold medal in Womens’ Team Class 9-10.
Popoola Mariam and Adebowale Janet later won Bronze medal in Women single Class 8 and 9 respectively.

Para Table Tennis harvest 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 4 Bronze medals Ogunkunle Isau Olatunji Aka Irawo, won Gold medal in men single Class 4.

In Para Table Tennis Mens’ Team class 4-5 event, Ogunkunle, Omotunde Saheed and Akanni Waheed won Silver medal, Gold medal and 4 Bronze Medals.

In Women’s single class 4 , Ganiu Mosimot won Bronze medal.

Para-Powerlifting was not left out in the medal haul as Latifat Tijani Won Gold. Latifat Tijani who become the first athlete to pick Nigeria’s medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Japan.

Adeagbo Babatunde won Silver medal in Scrabble, Intermediate category while Owolabi Olajide won Silver Medal at Strokeplay (Amateur Male) Golf.

So far, Delta State is at the top of the medals table, with thirteen gold medals. Edo State is second with eleven gold medals, while Ogun and Bayelsa State are joint third with six gold medal each.
