NEW TAIPEI CITY – Nigerian sprinter Tobi Amusan claimed gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the New Taipei Athletics Open on Saturday, breaking the meeting record in the process.
The 29-year-old clocked 12.72 seconds to finish ahead of Taiwan’s Bo Ya Zhang, who took silver in 13.17 seconds, and Yi Po-an, who secured bronze in 13.37 seconds.
Amusan’s winning time shaved 0.08 seconds off the previous meet record of 12.80 seconds, which was held by American Nia Ali, an Olympic silver medalist and former world champion.
