UK – Manchester City legend and former Ivory Coast international, Yaya Toure, has secured a new managerial role after agreeing terms to become the head coach of Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava.
According to reports by Sky Sports, Toure will be joined by former Celtic and Swansea City coach Darren O’Dea, who is expected to serve as his assistant.
The 43-year-old former midfielder continues his transition into management after previously serving as an assistant coach with the Saudi Arabian national team. He also gained coaching experience during a stint with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
Widely regarded as one of Africa’s greatest footballers, Toure enjoyed a highly successful playing career, winning three Premier League titles with Manchester City and playing a pivotal role in the club’s rise to prominence in English football.
Before his move to England, he starred for Barcelona, where he won the UEFA Champions League and two La Liga titles, among several other honours.
His appointment at Slovan Bratislava marks his first major head coaching role and represents another significant step in his coaching career.
Football enthusiasts will be keenly watching to see how the former midfield maestro adapts to life as a head coach in European football.
