The Egunaye family has reaffirmed its legal right to the ownership of a property located at No. 10, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos, following a Supreme Court judgment that upheld their title. This ruling comes amid a protracted legal battle with the Fasehun Estate, which has been the subject of multiple court proceedings for over 15 years.

The dispute stems from claims by Mr. Femi Fasehun, who allegedly asserted that the land was inherited from his father. However, the Egunaye family has dismissed these claims as frivolous and lacking merit.

In a bid to resolve the matter, the Egunaye family petitioned the Nigeria Police through the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 2, Zonal Police Headquarters, requesting an investigation into the dispute. The probe was led by CSP Taofik Tijani of the Zone 2 Command.

The Egunaye family has strongly refuted allegations of misconduct or overreach by law enforcement agencies, accusing Mr. Fasehun’s legal team of presenting a false and misleading narrative while omitting critical details.

Aare Tomori Williams, reacting to a recent petition by Femi Fasehun to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), urged all parties to respect the rule of law and allow the courts to reach a final decision without resorting to media sensationalism or politicizing the matter.

Mr. Fasehun, in his petition to the IGP, had accused officers attached to the Monitoring Unit of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, of “gross abuse of power and professional misconduct.” However, police investigations revealed an existing court order directing all parties to maintain the status quo.

Contrary to the court’s directive, Mr. Fasehun allegedly resumed construction on the disputed property, with documented evidence showing various stages of ongoing work. This was seen as an attempt to circumvent the judicial process and avoid physical confrontation.

CSP Taofik Tijani, the lead investigator, acting on an interlocutory order from the High Court of Lagos State in *Suit No. ID/11239LMW/2021* between *Olufemi Fasehun v. Cletus Nwagwu & Ors*, sealed off the property to preserve the subject matter and uphold the rule of law.

The Nigeria Police Force emphasized its statutory duty to prevent a breakdown of law and order while ensuring all parties have the opportunity to present their cases. Despite multiple invitations, Mr. Olufemi Fasehun and his legal representatives, Goldrush Partners, reportedly refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Aare Tomori Williams reiterated the family’s commitment to due process, calling for restraint and adherence to legal protocols as the case progresses.

*More details to follow as the situation develops.*
