LAGOS, NIGERIA – The former Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State, Dr. Samson Adeola Odedina, has paid tribute to the late Chief Innocent Audu Ogbeh, describing him as a kind and cheerful personality who left an indelible mark on the nation.

Dr. Odedina expressed his shock and sadness upon receiving the news of Chief Ogbeh’s passing. He recounted his personal memories of the former Minister of Agriculture, highlighting his kindness, encouragement, and passion for excellence.

Dr. Odedina recalled a specific visit by Chief Ogbeh to the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, where he served as Provost. Impressed by the college’s progress in agricultural interventions, Chief Ogbeh offered valuable support and introduced Dr. Odedina to the then Ondo State Governor to foster collaboration. According to Dr. Odedina, this visit created a lasting bond between them, with Chief Ogbeh continuing to offer guidance and fatherly affection until his final days. “His fatherly affection and mentorship meant a lot to me, and I will always cherish the memories,” Dr. Odedina stated.

The tribute also highlighted the significant impact of Chief Ogbeh’s visit on the Ondo State Governor at the time. After inspecting the college’s projects, the Governor was so impressed by the “prudency and innovation in attracting funds beyond government funding” that he publicly commended their efforts. Dr. Odedina described this moment as a “testament to Chief Ogbeh’s ability to recognise and appreciate excellence.”

Dr. Odedina concluded by saying that Chief Ogbeh’s sense of humour, passion for agriculture, and commitment to excellence will be deeply missed. He prayed that Ogbeh’s legacy would continue to inspire others and asked for God to comfort his family during this difficult time.
