Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates contesting in the June 20, 2026 bye-elections across various senatorial districts, federal constituencies and state assembly seats in the country.
According to the list published by the electoral body, candidates from different political parties will contest for vacant legislative positions in Ondo, Nasarawa, Rivers, Enugu, Kebbi and Kano states.
For the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election, the candidates are Adesanya Olaoluwa of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Dr. Francis Adedayo Faduyile of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwumi Adeolu Harrison of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and Nejo Funso Clement of the Boot Party (BP).
In the Nasarawa North Senatorial District, Halilu Danladi Envwulu-Aza will fly the APC flag, while Labaran Maku will represent the Labour Party (LP). The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has nominated John Paul Araneshri, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is fielding Emmanuel David Ombugadu.
For the Rivers South East Senatorial District, Douglas Fabeeke Beeka will contest on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA), Osarosaka Ebenezer Erewari represents the APC, Sam Kinanee Barikpoa is the LP candidate, while Nwogu Olaka Johnson will contest for the PDP.
In Enugu North Senatorial District, the APC has nominated Asogwa Ikeje Israel, the Boot Party is fielding Aneke Kingsley Chukwuebuka, while the PDP candidate is Ezeme Nestor Chika.
For the Kebbi State House of Assembly bye-election in Zuru Constituency, Garba Aiki Rabiu of the APC will face Aliyu Galadima Muhammad of the LP.
Meanwhile, in the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency bye-election in Kano State, Rabiu Shuaibu will represent the APC, Lawan Garba Haruna is the candidate of the APM, while Abubakar Yahaya Muhammad will contest on the platform of the LP.
INEC said the publication of the candidates’ list is part of preparations for the conduct of the bye-elections scheduled for June 20, 2026, urging political parties, candidates and stakeholders to comply with electoral guidelines and ensure peaceful campaigns ahead of the polls.
