The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief (Mrs.) Khadijah Adebisi Edionseri (Nee Elegbede), fondly known as “Cash Madam.” The illustrious business icon and philanthropist passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the age of 89.

In a statement released by his media team, Senator Salisu described the late Egba chieftain as a rare breed whose life exemplified service to humanity, faith, and her community. He noted that Chief (Mrs.) Edionseri dedicated a significant part of her life to uplifting the downtrodden, promoting Islamic values, and contributing to the development of Egbaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole.

“Chief (Mrs.) Khadijah Adebisi Edionseri was not just a philanthropist; she was a wellspring of kindness, a true embodiment of the saying, ‘Give until it helps,’” the statement read. “Her life was a testament to the power of giving, as she turned her business success into a vehicle for transforming lives and communities.”

Renowned for her sharp business acumen and unparalleled generosity, Chief (Mrs.) Edionseri blazed trails in the business world while remaining deeply committed to humanitarian causes. As the Iya Suna of Egbaland, Yewaland, and Ogun State, she was a pillar of the Muslim community, dedicating substantial resources to Islamic ventures, including the construction of mosques and support for Islamic education.

Senator Salisu described her as a quintessential Egba chieftain whose impact on her community was immeasurable. “Her life was a masterpiece of service to her community and humanity at large. The galaxy of worthy daughters of Egbaland has been depleted with her demise, and the vacuum she leaves behind will be extraordinarily difficult to fill.”

The statement highlighted her ability to seamlessly integrate her faith, business pursuits, and philanthropic activities, which endeared her to many. Her exemplary life, characterized by integrity, compassion, and selflessness, was described as “a beacon of inspiration” to all who knew her.

The Senator concluded by extending his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late icon, the Egba community, and Ogun State at large. He prayed for Almighty Allah to grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus and give the bereaved the strength to bear the loss.

“In every act of charity, Chief (Mrs.) Adebisi Edionseri demonstrated her belief in the saying, ‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give,’” the statement concluded.
