A United Kingdom court has sentenced Fawaz Abdulkareem, popularly known as “Larry Hoover,” to life imprisonment for the murder of 32-year-old Daniel Manuel following a dispute over an unpaid debt.
Abdulkareem, 36, was found guilty of murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place by a unanimous jury verdict at Croydon Crown Court on May 21, 2026. He was subsequently sentenced on June 5, 2026, to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 17 years.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred on July 5, 2025, at Abdulkareem’s apartment on Bondway, Southwark, London, where Daniel Manuel was fatally stabbed following an argument over money owed by the defendant.
Police were alerted at about 5:38 a.m. and arrived at the scene within six minutes. Officers immediately administered first aid, while paramedics and medical personnel also attempted to save Manuel’s life. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining three stab wounds.
Investigations revealed that both men had spent the evening at a nightclub before returning to Abdulkareem’s flat with friends in the early hours of the morning. A disagreement over a debt reportedly escalated, leading Abdulkareem to stab Manuel three times with a kitchen knife.
Following the attack, Abdulkareem allegedly concealed the weapon in the waistband of his trousers, covering it with his T-shirt as he sought help from building staff. Upon realizing emergency services were en route, he attempted to dispose of the knife by throwing it from the 14th-floor window of the apartment building.
Detectives quickly identified him as the prime suspect, noting bloodstains on his clothing. He was arrested at the scene and charged the following day. Investigators also dismissed his claims of self-defence after recovering the murder weapon and gathering evidence linking him directly to the crime.
In a victim impact statement, Daniel Manuel’s wife, Zulal, described the devastating effect of her husband’s death.
“Daniel was not just my husband; he was my partner, my home, my emotional safety and the person I built my entire life around. Losing him in such a violent and sudden way has completely shattered my world,” she said.
The Metropolitan Police welcomed the verdict, describing it as justice for the victim and his family after a thorough investigation that exposed the defendant’s attempts to evade responsibility.
