The candidate of the All progressives Congress, APC Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Omoyayi has emerged winner of Ogun Central senatorial district election after he polled the highest number of votes in the election held across 6 local government areas of the state.

The state’s INEC returning officer Professor CFI Onwuka declared Salisu winner of the senatorial election at the state’s collation center in Abeokuta, the capital on Sunday night.

Salisu, a former Chief of Staff to the governor of Ogun State, prince Dapo Abiodun polled a total of 96,759 votes, defeating other candidates on the ballot with a significant margin of 44,319 votes.

His closest rival, Olumide Aderinokun of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), polled 52,440 votes and was soundly defeated in his ward and local government area by Salisu.

According to the director General of the Shuaib Afolabi Salisu Campaign Organisation, Engineer Babatunde Adesina, this victory was unprecedented and it is a testament to the fact that Omoyayi is loved by everyone in the senatorial district.

“This victory affirms our strong belief that the good people of Ogun central senatorial district have truly identified Salisu’s hardwork, his commitment to service and loyalty to the people. He is one of them, he lived with them and they can trust him to give Ogun central senatorial district quality representation at the National Assembly”

Salisu campaigned vigorously across all local government areas within the senatorial district, holding town hall meetings and door-to-door campaigns with different groups and associations.

Throughout his campaign, Salisu pledged his commitment to advocating and defending the interests of the people of Ogun Central senatorial district by pushing forward legislation to improve education, health, the economy, and infrastructure development.
