The Chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Ambassador Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA, has inspected a newly approved road project in Imedu Nla Community, Mowe, as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the living conditions of residents across the council area.

The project involves the construction of approximately 150 metres of asphalt road linking Jalogun Palace Road with adjoining streets in the Ofada Ward area of the local government.

Speaking during the inspection, Ogunsola disclosed that the road would become the third asphalt road project completed by his administration within three years in office, underscoring the council’s commitment to grassroots development.

According to him, the project will be executed through direct labour by the Department of Works and Housing of the local government, in line with efforts to complement the infrastructural development agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

He explained that work would commence immediately after the release of approved funds, following the endorsement of the project at a recent financial management meeting.

The council chairman assured residents of other communities, towns, and wards within Obafemi-Owode Local Government that they would also benefit from ongoing development initiatives, stressing that the dividends of democracy should reach every part of the local government.

“We are committed to ensuring that development is spread across all communities. This administration will continue to prioritize projects that improve the quality of life of our people,” he said.

In his remarks, the Olu of Imedu Nla, Oba Jimoh Adegbenro Adebayo, expressed appreciation to the local government for approving the road project, noting that the development would improve transportation, boost economic activities, and enhance the standard of living of residents.

The monarch described Mowe as a strategic gateway connecting Ogun State with neighbouring commercial centres, including Lagos and Oyo States, and pledged the community’s continued support for government programmes.

Also speaking, the Babaloja of Mowe Market, Chief Nurudeen Aina Alowonle, commended the chairman for his infrastructural achievements, particularly the construction of asphalt roads in Owode and Adigbe, describing the new Mowe project as another milestone for the administration.

Meanwhile, shortly after the road inspection, Ogunsola held a security meeting with military officers led by Warrant Officer Obi Lawrence at his office.

During the meeting, the chairman called for intensified military patrols and enhanced security presence in areas facing security challenges, including Obafe, Ajebo, Ogunmakin, Magbon Etido, and the Interchange axis.

He urged security personnel to be more proactive in addressing incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities within the local government area.

Ogunsola reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of logistics and other necessary assistance to strengthen their operations.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by both the local government and security agencies to work together towards ensuring the safety of lives and property across Obafemi-Owode Local Government.
