The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee is poised to sanction party members across the states who are yet to yield to the directive of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to withdraw all pending court cases.

That directive of the NEC has largely been observed in the breach prompting the caretaker committee led by Governor Mai Mala Buni to serve a two-week notice to all the states to submit a comprehensive list of members who have or are yet to comply with the directive of the party’s apex organ.

Recall that the APC National Executive Committee (NEC), at its meeting held on June 24, 2020, had while announcing the sack of the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee and setting up of the Caretaker Committee instructed members of the party to withdraw any pending litigation against the party and its members and seek resolution via the caretaker body.

The NEC members also directed the Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee to ensure members’ compliance.

Salient Times report that the committee, in line with the directives, had written to state chapters asking them to furnish the National Headquarters with the level of compliance and non-compliance.

The Caretaker Committee, in a follow up letter dated August 14, 2020, requested all state chapters to submit evidence of compliance in states.

In the letter titled, ‘Request for Documentary Evidence of Compliance/Non-Compliance’, and signed by Senator James Akpanudoedehe, Secretary of the Committee, the party said: “Further to our letter dated 1st of July, 2020, wherein we directed that you coordinate with your state legal advisers and secretaries to encourage all members who have instituted any matter in court against the party to withdraw same and steps to be taken towards reconciliation.

“It is however with dismay that several state chapters have not yet sent their reports in line with our earlier request.

“In view of the above, you are hereby directed to forward to the national secretariat, within 14 days of the receipt of this letter, the following: list of all litigations between party members in your state chapter.

“Also to be submitted to the party secretariat are documentary evidence of compliance with the National Executive Committee directive on withdrawal of all pending litigations and names of litigants who have refused to withdraw from the court any matter which may have been filed against the party in your state.”

Some of the APC states in which members are in courts are Ogun, Zamfara, Rivers, Delta, Edo, Imo, Niger, and Oyo.
