The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Governorship Candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, has described the eight years of his sponsor , Governor Ibikunle Amosun, as that of “hopelessness.”

The remark which was made during a debate programme organized in Abeokuta on Friday by BBC Yoruba came two days after Amosun directed the removal of Akinlade’s bill boards and other campaign materials from the major roads of Abeokuta ahead of the presidential visit slated for Monday.

Akinlade was seen in the video, which has since gone viral, saying that he has toured 211 wards in Ogun State and what he has seen were hopeless people: “I have covered 211 wards in ogun state and have seen the hopelessness of people".

Another gubernatorial candidate present at the debate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, of the African Democratic Party (ADC), thanked Hon Akinlade for speaking the truth and admitting that Governor Ibikunle Amosun has failed the state. Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka responded by telling Hon Akinlade that he has covered the whole 236 wards three to four times since 2011 and that he is glad that Akinlade can testify to the hopelessness of the people in the state.
Akinlade’s comments against the government of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s much touted achievements came few-days after the Governor ordered the removal of Akinlade’s campaign materials from the major roads in Ogun State ahead of the visit of President Buhari skated for next Monday. This decision according to findings did not go well with Akinlade who felt the Governor has betrayed him, even when the news was rife that the Governor has been asked by the “order from above” to back off his support for Akinlade.

The last has certainly not been heard of the festering rift between Akinlade and his Godfather, Amosun. A close ally of the candidate said “Governor Amosun is just fooling himself, he should have known that Akinlade can neither be loyal nor submissive to him.”
