With the pomp and pageantry that trailed this November 2017 wedding, none knew it would end abruptly!

For singer/actor, Bankole Wellington and his wife, Adesua Etomi, who is a Nollywood actress, their enviable widely-publicised wedding came to an end on Thursday May 17 after a Lagos high court ruled that marriages conducted by Federal Registry, Ikoyi is not legally binding.

The amiable couple legalised their marriage at the Registry in Ikoyi, Lagos State on November 20, 2017.

The couple, who had a lavish customary wedding on November 19, had a quiet and private ceremony at the marriage registry in Ikoyi on Monday.

They sat before an official who declared them officially married. The few family and friends present at the Registry exploded with joy as they were proclaimed man and wife.

Now that Chuka Austine Obiozor, a justice, has issued a restraining order to the Ikoyi registry from conducting marriages, saying it is unconstitutional for the FG to perform the duties of the state and local governments, the Banky W/Adesua’s wedding no longer exist.

Many celebrities would prefer an Ikoyi Registry wedding than making use of the registry in their local government area.
Meanwhile, the court judgement delivered on Suit No: FHC/L/CS/1760/16 said marriage registries in the local government and local council development areas of Lagos state are the authentic and legally-binding government divisions established to carry out such.

Anyway, Do not be too serious!
