The Management of Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ijebu has debunked the rumours being peddled by faceless people in the social media and public domain that some staff of the College died due to non-payment of salaries by the Ogun State Government.

In a statement issued and signed by Head, PR & Courier Dept.Tai Solarin College of Education, Fisayo Olajide (Mrs.) made this known in Abeokuta on Thursday , he said Mr. Oladeji Adebolujo, of Fine and Applied Arts Department, had been battling with a medical condition of hypertension and diabetes for a long period. He had been on and off from work. The College Management has been very supportive by allowing him to take some time off from work to thoroughly attend to his medical condition.

According to Head, PR & Courier Dept. ” Events leading to his final departure, detail that Mr. Adebolujo was referred to Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta for advanced medical treatment from State Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, on Monday night due to kidney related issue which resulted in his inability to make use of toilet for some days. It was unfortunate that Mr. Adebolujo passed away on Wednesday while being attended to by FMC, Abeokuta as against the rumour that he slumped and died”

Also, the death of Mrs. Benson of School of Education in June, 2020 was due to cancer complications. Late (Mrs.) Benson had been battling with cancer for over five years. She had once been away from work for almost one year. The College allowed her to attend to her health by giving her leave before her demise due to cancer complications; ditto late (Mr.) Dele Asipa while Mr. Tajudeen Oropo died in a lone car accident along Odogbolu-Ijebu Ode Express Way.

It should be noted that all these deaths were not related to the College, discharge of official duties or any form of denial or neglect from College management or government.

“There is no running from the fact that the College has issue of salary arrears owed by the last administration in Ogun State but since the coming of this present administration in Ogun State under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodu, the monthly subvention to the College has been very regular and the College Management has been paying the salaries as and when due.

“This should not become grounds for mischief and distortion or exploiting the unfortunate departure of a very diligent colleague to achieve selfish and twisted motives.
May the soul of our dear colleague and of all the departed rest in peace. She said
