Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has appointed four principals of secondary schools and four headteachers of elementary schools as principals-general and headmasters-general in the State.

The eight headmasters and principals are drawn from the four divisions of the State. A principal general or headmaster general enjoys equivalent status as a permanent secretary equivalent in the public service of the State.
The new Principals – General are:
i. Mrs Sekinat Omolola Ogunwolu – Egba zone
ii. Mrs Rashidat Adenike Bolujoko – Ijebu zone
iii. Mr Ganiyu Olukorede Ramoni – Remo
iv. Mrs Afolake Ibironke Lokulo-Sodipe – Yewa zone; while the new Headteachers- General are :
i. Mr Semiu Ayodele Akinbo – Egba
ii. Mrs. Sarat Iyabo Adedeji – Ijebu
iii. Mr Emmanuel Tunde Kalejaiye – Remo and
iv. Mr. Julius Olusina Babatunde – Yewa

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin said the new appointees are called to service at this critical juncture of the State history because of the Government mantra of “Building Out Future Together”.

“Our children are our future and to build it, we need to start at the basic level of education, therefore our teachers need to be motivated and given the opportunity to attain the highest level in the public service,” the statement said.

The new appointees would be sworn in at the state secretariat, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta by the Governor at a date to be announced later. It would be recalled that that one of the early decisions of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s Administration was to clear the backlog of promotion of over 10,000 teaching and non-teaching staff on assumption of office.

The statement further said that “the primary aim of the promotion of the principals-general and headmasters-general is to encourage school teachers and enhance the standard of education at the grassroots.”

“The state government deliberately situated the offices of the principals-general and headmasters-general at the zonal levels for them to be able to see to the educational needs of those at the grassroots”.

Governor Abiodun urges the new principals-general and headteachers-general to ensure that their appointment translates into immediate positives results, by seeing to how they can assist government in improving education at the basic levels

“The appointment of principal-generals and headteachers-general among our teachers is in line with the positive transformation we are carrying out in our schools. We want to take the basic education system in our schools to an enviable height and we also want to encourage our teachers at the basic level for them to know that they can rise to the highest level of their career as teachers under the employment of the state government.”
