Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has assured the people of the state developmental projects being embarked upon by his administration would get to every section, in line with the inclusive approach of his government.

Abiodun gave this assurance on Thursday while inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of Igan-Imere Road in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area.

The governor who was in the council area in continuation of the campaign by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for forthcoming local government poll, said the choice of the road was taken by the people of Ago Iwoye, having analysed its priority.

“In line with our approach to governance and for rapid infrastructural development that is determined by those that elected us into office, this Igan Road was chosen as the road the good people of Ago -Iwoye wanted us to reconstruct for them.

“We did not sit in Abeokuta and decide which road to construct for them. The people decided that this road is of priority to them”, Abiodun noted.

The governor explained that the 1.8 kilometre road which was awarded to a local contractor from the area, was to ensure that the benefits trickled down to the immediate neighbourhood through youth engagement and employment.

He noted that half of the road has already been laid with asphalt and provided with good drainage system, adding street lights would be installed to complement other facilities on the road.

“I am sure Ago-Iwoye has not seen any semblance of government presence in terms of road Infrastructural development in the past 16 years.

“We promised not to develop any part of this state to the detriment of others and we will carry our people along on any issue that concern them. This is a typical example of what inclusive and promise-keeping is all about”, he said.

Abiodun who was also in Oru town in the local government, said the 7Km Oru-Awa-Ilaporu bypass road was the second to be reconstructed in Ijebu North Local Government Area.

“For those coming from Ijebu-Ode and going to Ijebu-Igbo, you don’t have to go to Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan Road, getting to Ago Iwoye before getting to Ijebu-Igbo, so it allows you to cut through from Oru, Awa and Ilaporu. This road as you can see is completed, we should be commissioning it today, but we don’t want to mix it with our local government election campaign, the governor remarked.

Abiodun also inspected the ongoing reconstruction of a 3.9Km Molusi College Road in Ijebu Igbo where he expressed satisfaction on the level of work done so far, adding that on completion, it would bring succour to residents of the area

Addressing party faithful and the people at Ijebu-Igbo on the forthcoming local government election, the governor called on the people to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), chairmanship and councillorship candidates so that they can continue to enjoy dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
