The Nigeria Police have arrested a woman, Mrs. Isioma Ezeofor, for allegedly bathing her 19-year-old housemaid with hot water at the Ijegun area of Lagos State.
Ezeofor, who was arrested alongside her husband, Chigozie Ezeofor, reportedly maltreated her maid, Blessing Joseph, by bathing her with hot water, while Chigozie was apprehended for attempting to rape the girl through the anus.
Chigozie on the other hand, was alleged to be fond of sneaking into Blessing’s room, whenever his wife was not home, to sexually assault the maid.
The incident was said to have happened at No. 26, Aunty Toying Street, Kedeibo Estate, Ijegun Road, Isheri Oshun area of the metropolis.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Chike Oti, said: “The command recorded another case of abuse perpetrated against a 19-year-old Blessing Joseph. She has suffered terribly in the hands of the couple who took delight in dehumanising her regularly.
The victim told the police that her madam used to beat her on the slightest provocation, while her husband always sneaked into her room, whenever his wife was away, to rape her through the anus.
“The exploitation came to a halt on December 17, 2017 after Isioma poured hot water on her, scalding her body in the process. It was a Good Samaritan, who saw what the girl was going through that informed the police. Both the husband and wife were arrested. They are undergoing interrogation at the Gender Section of the command. They would be charged to court after completion of investigations.”
