A 67-year old man, Musa Ayuba has been arrested, five years after allegedly raping and impregnating his stepdaughter when she was 15-year old.

The incidence happened at Kanti in Ibbi local government area of Niger State but the victim lodged her complaint at the Helele office of the Sokoto Hisbah Commission where she now resides with her uncle.

Ayuba who was invited and interrogated by the commission, confessed that he was influenced by the devil but he had long repented over his sin.

A father of 12 children with four wives, Ayuba in an interview with Daily Trust yesterday, pleaded for mercy and forgiveness.

The Commander of the Commission, Adamu Kasarawas said the suspect is married to the mother of the victim after she lost her first husband who was the father of the victim.

According to him,  the suspect raped and impregnated the girl at the age of 15 and secretly aborted the pregnancy.

Daily Trust learnt her mother only got to know about the abominable incidence after it was reported to the commission but decided to remain with her husband.

The girl (name withheld) was said to had later got married to another person but the marriage did not last long as she was divorced shortly giving birth to a child.

After coming back, Malam Musa was said to had wanted to continue with his nefarious act which made her fled to Sokoto and reported him to her uncle before lodging a complaint to the hisbah commission.

Kasarawa said that they would hand over the suspect to the police for further action unless the parties decide otherwise.
