Ogun 2023: Wait For Your Time, Ogun Monarchs Tell Adebutu, Aderinokun Others

Traditional rulers in Ogun State have advised the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Ladi Adebutu,ogun central senatorial candidate, Olumide Aderinokun their factional counterpart; Segun Sowunmi and governorship candidates of Labour Party(LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to forget about 2023 and wait for their time in future to pursue any governorship ambition.

The traditional rulers under the aegis of Progressive Obas Forum(POF) said that in order to sustain the prevailing meaningful development as well as consolidate on the activities of the present Governor Dapo Abiodun – led administration in the Gateway State, the second term bid should taken as desirable and necessary.

This followed the resolution of the Royal fathers during their meeting on Monday where they also resolved, among other things, to give maximum support to the second term ambition of Dapo Abiodun and work for his victory in 2023.

The progressive Obas and newly upgraded Baales to Coronet Obas in Egba, Remo, Yewa and Ijebu as well as former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ogun state, chief Jide Ojuko, attended the meeting where they urged governorship candidates of other political parties to wait for their time.

The resolution was signed by the Olu of Itori Egba, Oba AbdulFatai Akamo, who is the Chairman, Progressive Obas Forum, where the monarchs also acknowledged with satisfaction, the outstanding performance of Dapo Abiodun in Ogun central, saying they are pleased with his leadership qualities.

They have accordingly, decided to mobilise all traditional institutions – the Baales, market women, Council of Chiefs
and clubs in their respective domains towards the electoral victory of Governor Abiodun in March 2023.

Part of the communique reads, “The meeting resolved to uphold the integrity of the Executive Governor as a man ready to take Ogun state to the next level

The meeting also resolved to continue to appeal to the state Government to recognize the newly upgraded Baales to the position of Coronets

“The meeting resolved to give maximum support to the second term ambition of the executive Governor of Ogun state, Prince Dr Dapo Abiodun as the Executive Governor of Ogun state.

“The meeting also viewed that for a meaningful development and consolidation of the activities of them present administration in the state, the second term ambition is very much desirable.

“It was also accepted that both the Progressive Obas as well as the New Coronet Obas should work together for the victory of His Excellency Governor Dapo Abiodun as the Executive Governor of Ogun state.”
