TThe Ogun State House of Assembly has issued a direct order to the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) to immediately clear the indiscriminate parking of vehicles under the Kuto Flyover in Abeokuta.

The directive, aimed at restoring order and safety around the critical Kuto Roundabout, was given by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations during the ongoing 2026 budget defence sessions.

Committee Chairman, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, identified the persistent gridlock in the area as being fueled by illegal parking, driving against traffic, and unruly loading activities by commercial drivers. He charged TRACE to enforce compliance with traffic rules to enhance public safety and traffic flow.

During the session, which featured the State Ministry of Transportation, the committee also urged the ministry to ensure the development of the Gateway International Airport aligns with the state’s economic agenda to boost investment and revenue.

While defending his ministry’s budget, Commissioner for Transportation Mr Olugbenga Dairo announced ambitious plans for the state’s aviation sector. He revealed that beyond the existing partnership with ValueJet Airline, the state is working to establish its own airline. He assured that cargo flight operations and an aircraft maintenance facility would commence at the Gateway Airport in the coming fiscal year.

Other agencies that defended their budget proposals before the committee included TRACE, led by its Acting Commander, Mr Elias Omonayajo; the Gateway Airport management under Mr Dapo Olumide; and the Vehicle Inspection Office.

The budget defence sessions also featured presentations from the Ministries of Community Development and Cooperatives, Rural Development, the State Assembly, the Assembly Service Commission, and the State Auditor-General’s office.
