The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has lauded the state’s new Gateway International Airport as a transformative project poised to drive economic growth, following the successful launch of its maiden commercial flight.
In a statement released by the Chapter’s Chairman, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, and Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olayeni, the NIPR congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun on the historic flight operation that took off from Ilishan-Remo and landed in Abuja on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
The professional body described the airport as a “legacy project” and a “game-changer for economic prosperity,” underscoring the administration’s commitment to enhancing socio-economic infrastructure.
According to the statement, the airport’s launch marks a critical milestone in the state’s development, expected to “accelerate economic potential, create job opportunities, and increase revenue generation.”
The NIPR also commended the state government’s proactive engagement with key aviation stakeholders, including the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), to ensure the facility meets operational and safety standards.
“Governor Abiodun’s tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to developing our state’s infrastructure and enhancing its economic prospects are duly acknowledged,” the statement read. “With this airport project, Ogun State has indeed been placed on the world map of aviation.”
The institute highlighted the role of strategic communication and stakeholder engagement in achieving the milestone and pledged continued support to promote the state’s interests.
It urged citizens to back the government’s efforts to develop the economy through world-class infrastructure, affirming that the airport will open new opportunities for businesses, investors, and tourists.
