The leadership of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU),Tai Solarin College of Education,TASCE Chapter Omu-Ijebu, has disassociated itself from a Press release purportedly written by the Concerned Academic Staff (CAS), signed by one Mr. Ade Balogun and published on online platform.

This is contained in a statement signed by the COEASU Chairman, Dr. Daniel Oludipe and made available to Newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday,he stated that the so called association is a faceless group of people and the purported statement is baseless, malicious, and mischievous propaganda.

”the Union strongly disassociate itself with this libellous and malicious publication made by anti-progressive elements who do not meant well for the College. The union, therefore, pass a vote of confidence on the Provost and the Governing Council giving the good intention and plans outlined to reposition, re-engineer and return the College towards the path of normalcy and growth’the union leader added.

He declared that the Provost is not only honest, transparent and accountable but also a reliable leader whose modus operandi in the last four years is accountability and transparency. This is a foul cry from the claim of the Western Post in the publication.

The union enjoined the faceless, destructive mischief makers to desist from maligning the Image of the State Government under the leadership of Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun MFR, the Governing Council ably lead by Prince Adeyemi Adefulu MFR and the Provost, Dr. Adeola Kiadese and allow the critical stakeholders move the College to enviable heights amongst other Colleges of Education in Nigeria he concluded

The statement reads;

The attention of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), TASCE Chapter has been drawn to a faceless, baseless, malicious, and mischievous propaganda allegedly published online by Western Post where one unidentified Mr. Ade Balogun claimed to be a the leader of Academic Staff of the College. After a cursory look at the publication, the leadership of COEASU which to state as follows:

1. That there is no Union in the College called Concerned Academic Staff (CAS) as the only recognised Union for academic staff in the College is COEASU. Therefore, the claim by Western Post in the publication is baseless, misleading and a pure misrepresentation of the good intention of State Government, the Governing Council and the Provost for the College.

2. That Mr. Ade Balogun is neither a staff of the College nor a member of COEASU and as such, not in position to be the mouth piece of our great, responsible and responsive Union.

3. That Since the assumption of Office of the incumbent Provost on 1st September, 2016, the Union has not at any time be at dagger drawn with him as claimed by Western Post in the said publication. Rather, there has been cordial and mutual relationship with the Management under his leadership. Contrary to the claim of the publisher that the Provost harasses staff and mismanage College resources, it should be explicitly stated that the Provost has not at any instance harass any staff and that the meagre resources of the College has been judiciously utilised under his watch. He (the Provost) was able to conduct accreditation for all the 25 academic programmes of the College with full accreditation status granted by NCCE, secured degree affiliation with Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye (with NUC approval), secured academic collaboration with University of Education, Wineba, Ghana, amongst others outstanding achievements within the first two years of his appointment.

3. On integrity, the Provost is not only honest, transparent and accountable but also a reliable leader whose modus operandi in the last four years is accountability and transparency. This is a foul cry from the claim of the Western Post in the publication.

4. Contrary to the Claim of the publisher that the Provost spent N70m on Sallah gifts for political Office holders, we wish to state unequivocally that the College has no such funds at its disposal at the moment as the Provost, in his usual prudency, magnanimity and commitment to staff welfarism would have expended such funds on payment of staff salary and arrears if available, even without recourse to the Unions.

5. On the claim of Mr. Ade Balogun in the publication that the Provost is not qualified to occupy the Post, the Union wish to state that the prerogative of appointment of a Chief Executive lies with the State Government and not the Union. The Union is confident that due diligence was carried out prior to his appointment and if Mr. Ade Balogun is interested in the position of the Provost, he should so apply through appropriate channel rather than castigate the appointment made by the Government.

Conclusively, the Union strongly disassociate itself with this libellous and malicious publication made by anti-progressive elements who do not meant well for the College. The union, therefore, pass a vote of confidence on the Provost and the Governing Council giving the good intention and plans outlined to reposition, re-engineer and return the College towards the path of normalcy and growth. We, therefore, enjoin the faceless, destructive mischief makers to desist from maligning the Image of the State Government under the leadership of Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun MFR, the Governing Council ably lead by Prince Adeyemi Adefulu MFR and the Provost, Dr. Adeola Kiadese and allow the critical stakeholders move the College to enviable heights amongst other Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
