Abuja – The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have strongly criticised the newly formed coalition under the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as an assemblage of “retired and tired politicians” with conflicting ideologies. In a statement issued on Thursday, the group dismissed the coalition as lacking genuine national interest and predicted its inevitable collapse.

The statement, signed by TMV Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe, accused the ADC coalition of embarking on a “rudderless political journey” while benefiting from the democratic space provided by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“We note that despite the coalition’s lack of direction, the President Bola Tinubu administration has, in its democratic culture, availed them the needed democratic space to thrive,” the statement read. “Without the democratic credentials of President Tinubu, the coalition would have sunk into oblivion at its inception.”

The TMV warned the coalition against blaming President Tinubu for its eventual disintegration, citing the “strange and diverse political tendencies” of its members. The group argued that the alliance, which it labelled an “unholy alliance and unusual partnership,” was bound to fail due to internal contradictions and conflicting ambitions.

“As the 2027 general elections approach, we have observed that the key players in the coalition are driven by personal ambitions, which will ultimately tear them apart,” the statement continued. “Their division should not be blamed on President Tinubu. This is an odd connection, and it will fall like a pack of cards.”

The TMV reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to democratic principles, assuring Nigerians that his administration would continue to promote pluralism in party politics. However, it urged the ADC coalition leaders to take responsibility for their political differences and not shift blame for any future failures.

“The coalition leaders should be mindful of their divergent political ideologies ahead of the 2027 elections and not attribute their shortcomings to external factors,” the statement concluded.

The ADC coalition, which includes several prominent opposition figures, has yet to respond to the TMV’s remarks. Political analysts suggest that the coalition’s ability to manage internal disagreements will be crucial to its survival ahead of the next election cycle.
