The Ogun State Primary Healthcare Development Board (OGPHCDB) in collaboration with development partners on health has launched a strategic initiative called S.C.A.L.E.S 3.0, a 3months campaign designed to ensure full coverage of residents for vaccination, particularly those within ages 18 and above.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker revealed this in Abeokuta, during the launch at the Family Health Centre, Oke-Ilewo, saying the acronym signified Service Delivery, Communication, Logistics, Emid and Supervisory, that would enable the government to meet its COVID-19 vaccination target and gain the desired herd immunity against the virus for accelerated integrated exercise.

Coker affirmed that the virus persists in the country, and the government would intensify efforts to prevent resurgence, adding that the initiative would identify and address implementation gaps as well as promote accountability of performance.

While appreciating the partners for their continued support in ensuring the wellbeing of the people, the Health Commissioner urged the people to take advantage of the exercise to assist the present administration in achieving its target.

In his remark, the Chairman, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Omolaja Majekodunmi, represented by the Supervisor for Health in the council, Hon. AbdulKareem AbdulGafar, commended the State government for its visionary efforts in strengthening the health system and improving the people’s wellness, promising to mobilise eligible residents during the campaign.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Zonal Coordinator, (SouthWest) World Health Organisation (WHO) Dr. Olufunmilola Kolude, her counterparts in the United Nations International Children Education Fund (UNICEF), Mrs. Florence Molokwu and the State Coordinator, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Victoria Adebiyi unanimously applauded the effort of the present administration towards the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, pledging their organisations’ backing at all times.

Mr. Adegboyega Koleade and Mrs. Adijat Adebogun, who benefitted from the vaccination, expressed their appreciation to the government for its commitment to the safety of residents.
