Lagos – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber and alleged notorious cultist, identified as Odeshola Afeez, 22, in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos.

The arrest followed a distress call from residents who reported that a young man was harassing passers-by and causing panic within the community.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, operatives responded swiftly to the report and deployed personnel to the scene. The suspect was subsequently apprehended.
A search conducted on Afeez led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, one cartridge, and local charms allegedly concealed in his possession.
Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a notorious cultist who had allegedly been terrorising residents and engaging in activities capable of disturbing public peace. Further findings indicated that he had reportedly been evading arrest before his eventual capture.
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism during the operation.
The police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across Lagos State.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies through the command’s emergency lines.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.
