It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we bid farewell to a remarkable woman who embodied the essence of leadership, Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland. Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, and her legacy will forever be etched in the annals of our history.

Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson’s journey began as an Egba chief, where she assumed the prestigious role of the Iyalode of Egbaland. Over the years, she endeared herself to our hearts through her unwavering dedication to numerous roles: a teacher, businesswoman, educationist, community leader, and a politician. Her multifaceted contributions to our society have left an indelible mark.

As the former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State and the Osi Asoju Oba of Egbaland, I had the distinct privilege of witnessing her tireless commitment to the development of our state and community. Her impact in the educational sector, where she served as a beacon of knowledge, and in the business world, where she blazed a trail for women, remains an inspiration to all.

Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson was a true representation of grace and strength, a leader who could don many hats with ease. She exemplified the power of a woman’s influence and the difference one individual can make in the lives of many.

In her passing, we mourn the loss of a mentor, a role model, and a guiding light. We take solace in the knowledge that her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Her contributions to society will forever remind us of the heights we can reach with dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment.

As we bid farewell to the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson, let us remember her with gratitude for her extraordinary life and the enduring impact she made. She may be gone, but her spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rest in peace, Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson, and may your legacy continue to shine brightly in our hearts and in the history of our beloved Egbaland.
