ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Government has inaugurated the State Safe School Steering Committee as part of efforts to strengthen the safety, security, and well-being of learners and education personnel across the state.

The committee is expected to provide strategic leadership, policy direction, and effective coordination for the implementation of the Safe Schools Initiative in line with national and international best practices.
According to the government, the committee’s mandate includes developing proactive measures aimed at preventing and responding to security threats, emergencies, and other risks within and around educational institutions across the state.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to creating a secure, inclusive, and conducive learning environment where every child can learn and thrive without fear.
The government noted that the establishment of the committee reflects its determination to safeguard educational infrastructure, protect learners and teachers, and strengthen the resilience of schools against emerging security challenges.
Officials emphasized that the initiative is designed to ensure that schools across Ogun State remain safe spaces for teaching, learning, growth, and development.
The inauguration of the State Safe School Steering Committee is in line with ongoing efforts by the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun to improve the quality of education and enhance the safety of educational institutions throughout the state.
The government expressed confidence that the committee would play a critical role in advancing school safety policies and fostering collaboration among relevant stakeholders to ensure a more secure educational environment for all.
